happy friday, sweet handmade friends! wasn't yesterday such a lovely, sunny day? it was perfect market weather, to be sure. and even though it wasn't as bustling as you would expect for such a warm, sunny afternoon there was great energy and excitement swirling around. i think each week is only going to get better from here on out! here's hoping that next thursday is just as lovely!
one thing i know for certain: rain or shine, there will be an abundance of loveliness under the second storie tent! joAnn mcGranahan, one of our second storie co-founders, will have her delightful handmade silk flower pins as well as other darling sewn creations there for you to swoon over! you might have seen joAnn's flowers around town adding a bit of spring to a passerby's coat, or crowning glory. you can often find them in some truly gorgeous colors at sassafrass. i am in love with these beauties, and have for so long wanted to scoop up a handful and pin them in a pile of braids, frida kahlo style...someday! maybe you'll be inspired to join me?
joAnn recently opened an etsy shop called refashioned, and i love what she's written on her profile page: "everything old is new again...my passion is to create beautiful objects from salvaged and reused materials. in doing so, i can pass along to others the beauty i see in forgotten or discarded things. the weave of a particular fabric. the wonderful lines of an old textbook graph. it's the small things such as these that bring me joy." indeed.
see you on thursday? i hope so!

Yesterday's weather made it feel like a true summer afternoon and there was no place better to spend it than the south wedge farmer's market. I can't wait for it to be in full swing next week!
To all those who stopped by to say hello: thanks! It really brought home the sense of community that the swfm has created...
I'm looking forward to my next chance to be there!
